Emefiele gifted a justice of the federal high court in Abuja amoured vehicle and cash for frustrate DSS arrest.

NewsOnline gathered that the Central Bank’s Governor, Godwin Emefiele, gifted a Justice of the Federal High Court, Abuja, an armored vehicle and cash to make frustrate the efforts of the Department of State Security Service (SSS) from arresting him.

Emefiele, who has been under the radar of the secret police following allegations of corruption and terrorism financing, had in the past week gifted the judicial officer the vehicle and an undisclosed amount of money, sources familiar with the transaction said, POLITICS NIGERIA reveals.

Recall that the DSS, in December 2022, approached the Federal High Court with an order seeking the arrest of Emefiele.

This order was presented at Justice John Tsoho’s court.

Also in an alleged bid to frustrate the court process, which reliable sources say was an attempt to buy Emefiele more time, Justice Tsoho faulted the DSS motion, accusing the security agency of breaching the procedure.

Justice Tsoho, in a December 13, 2022 ruling, said the secret police had failed to establish its claims against the head of the country’s central bank.

“The entire affidavit depositions….purport that preliminary investigation has revealed various acts of terrorism financing, fraudulent activities perpetrated by the respondent and his involvement in economic crimes of national security dimension,” the head of the Nigerian Federal High Court system said while ruling on the application filed ex-parte on December 9.

“These are no doubt grave allegations, but which the applicant has not presented any concrete evidence to support, the judge ruled.”

The judge also stated that the SSS did not supply evidence indicating President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval before filing allegations before court.
