Embattled NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed
NewsOnline Nigeria repots that Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has resigned his appointment.
The development comes barely 24 hours after corruption allegations were made against him by Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited.
Also stepping down is Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The resignations were announced on Wednesday by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, who said President Bola Tinubu has nominated replacements for both positions.
According to the statement, the president has forwarded the names of two nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
“To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as Chief Executive Officer of the NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as Chief Executive Officer of the NMDPRA,” Onanuga said.
He added that both nominees are seasoned professionals with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
