EFCC raided Majesty Estate in Port Harcourt and arrested 37 suspected internet fraudsters.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 37 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud during a raid on Majesty Estate, located along Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The operation, which took place on Friday, August 1, 2025, was in response to a distress call from concerned residents of the estate. According to a statement issued by the Commission on Saturday and titled “EFCC’s Operations at Majesty Estate, Port Harcourt,” the raid followed intelligence reports about alleged fraudulent activities within the estate.

Details of the Operation

The EFCC’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate led the sting operation, targeting an apartment flagged by its intelligence unit. Upon arrival, operatives introduced themselves and stated their mission. However, one of the apartments under investigation reportedly refused to grant access despite multiple attempts and formal identification by the operatives.

As per the EFCC’s account, officers were forced to open the door of the apartment after repeated refusals by occupants to cooperate. The Commission, however, clarified that no arrests or incriminating materials were recovered from that specific apartment, and insisted that the operation was conducted professionally and in accordance with the law.

In response to viral videos and reports alleging harassment and misconduct by EFCC officials, the Commission strongly refuted such claims, describing them as “strange and unwarranted.”

Community Support and Assurance of Due Process

The EFCC emphasized that several residents of Majesty Estate expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the arrests brought a sense of relief to the community.

Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, the Commission stated that it remains dedicated to ethical standards in all its operations and will not hesitate to discipline any operative found to have acted overzealously or outside the bounds of the law.

The Commission reiterated its resolve to clamp down on internet fraud and maintain public trust in its anti-corruption efforts.
