Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has said those who were hoping on rigging the 2023 election using Federal might have already been disappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Newsonline reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and their candidates have been planning to buy votes or use Federal agencies to rig the 2023 election, but President Buhari has said no.

Bala Mohammed said this on Sunday when he received the members of the Bauchi State Christian Community for Christmas homage in Bauchi.

“There are people who buy votes, and there are those planning to rig the election using federal might but I know President Buhari is just, and he has already assured us that he would allow the people to elect whom they want. Let us not mind all these doubting Thomases. We must be able to come together, to stick together,” Bala said.

He called on Nigerians to get their permanent voters card (PVC) to be able to exercise their franchise in 2023 election.

He said with insecurity and economic hardship in the country all citizens must be diligent in casting their votes.

Recall that President Buhari had on 22 December reiterated that he is committed to leaving a legacy of free, fair and credible election come 2023.

President Buhari said he is committed to the growth of democracy across West Africa and Africa continent.

“Since 2015, the conduct of our elections continues to steadily improve. The 2019 general elections, the off-season elections in Edo, Ekiti, Anambra and Osun; all conducted in largely improved contexts, to the satisfaction of contestants and voters. This is what we hope for in 2023,” Buhari said.

The president of Africa’s larges economy added, “As I have said repeatedly, leaving behind a legacy of free and fair elections is a priority for our administration. Beyond our borders, we will also continue to work to improve the quality of governance, especially in West Africa, where democracy’s survival is currently challenged.”
