NewsOnline reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met former President Goodluck Jonathan behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The agenda of the meeting with Jonathan, which took place at about 3 pm was not made public.
Jonathan was appointed last year by the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, as a special envoy to lead the sub-regional body’s mediation mission in Mali.
He regularly visits Aso Villa to brief President Buhari on his activities as ECOWAS Special Envoy to Mali.
This is coming less than a few months after both politicians met in Aso Villa.
Jonathan had visited Buhari at the State House in May to brief the President over the new political crisis in Mali.
Recall that Mali’s military-dominated government launched a four-day national forum on returning the country to civilian rule on Monday.
The forum, according to Mali’s transitional President, Colonel Assimi Goita, “will make an unflinching assessment of the state of the nation and draw the best lessons from it”.
