NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over the 141st meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the State House, Abuja.
The council, a statutory body mandated to advise the president on the nation’s economic affairs, comprises the vice president, governors of the 36 states of the federation, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the minister of finance, and other stakeholders.

Some state governors and deputies are seated for the meeting.
The ongoing meeting marks a break from three consecutive virtual meetings to an in-person gathering.
At its 140th meeting on March 21, the council received reports from 16 state governors expressing their support for establishing state police.
They also recommended changes to the constitution to allow for smooth establishment.
The spokesperson for the vice president, Stanley Nkwocha, had revealed that NEC was still awaiting reports from 20 states, expressing confidence that others would support.
