President Trump has launched numerous deadly strikes on Terrorists in Nigeria.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the United States President Donald Trump has announced that American forces carried out multiple airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists in northwestern Nigeria, warning that further attacks will follow if the killing of Christians continues.

Trump disclosed the operation on Thursday via his Truth Social account, stating that the strikes were authorised by him as Commander-in-Chief and executed by the U.S. Department of War.

“Tonight, at my direction, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS terrorist scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians,” Trump wrote.
“I warned these terrorists that if the slaughter did not stop, there would be hell to pay — and tonight, there was.”

The president added that U.S. forces carried out “numerous perfect strikes,” insisting that his administration would not allow radical Islamic terrorism to thrive. He concluded the message by praising the U.S. military and extending Christmas greetings.

In a separate statement on X (formerly Twitter), U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the operation and expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s cooperation.

“The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria and elsewhere must end,” Hegseth said.

“The Department of War is always ready, and ISIS found out tonight — on Christmas. Grateful for Nigerian government support and cooperation.”

U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) also confirmed the strike, saying it was conducted on December 25, 2025, in Sokoto State, in coordination with Nigerian authorities, and resulted in the death of several ISIS operatives.

The strikes came a day after a bomb exploded at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, killing at least five people and injuring dozens in what authorities suspect was a suicide attack.

Nigeria has faced persistent security challenges from armed groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), particularly in the North-East and parts of the North-West.

Last month, Trump warned that the United States could cut off aid to Nigeria and consider direct military action if stronger measures were not taken against extremist groups targeting Christians. In a November 1 post, he said he had directed the War Department to prepare for “possible action” against terrorists operating in the country.

Since returning to office in January, Trump has authorised U.S. military operations in several regions, including Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and parts of the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
