NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s security forces following the rescue of students abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State and worshippers kidnapped in Kwara State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the President reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding every Nigerian, revealing that he had cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally coordinate national security efforts.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued,” he said.
Tinubu also confirmed that 51 of the students kidnapped from the Catholic school in Niger State had been recovered, adding that he was receiving constant updates on the situation from security operatives on the ground.
“I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline,” he stated.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety, and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”
