President Tinubu has conveyed emergency FEC meeting over Buhari’s death.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has called for an emergency meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) following the death of his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, will be dedicated to honouring the late Nigerian leader, who died on Sunday at a medical facility in London after battling an undisclosed illness.

In a personally signed statement, President Tinubu described Buhari’s passing as a national loss and announced that full state honours will be accorded to him during the emergency FEC session.

“I have also summoned an emergency Federal Executive Council session on Tuesday, dedicated to his honour. The Federal Government will accord President Buhari full state honours befitting his towering contributions to our country,” Tinubu stated.

He also offered prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul, asking God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.

Since the announcement of Buhari’s death, tributes and condolences have continued to pour in from prominent Nigerians and global leaders, expressing sympathy to his family and the nation at large
