
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Prominent Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has passed away at the age of 98.
The revered Tijjaniyya cleric, born on June 29, 1927, died on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
His death was confirmed by a close associate, Daha Azhary Bauchi, who announced:
“Innaa lillahi wa innaa ilaihi raji’un… Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has passed away (Wafaty). May Allah bless us with his blessings.”
Another long-time disciple, Abubakar Ibrahim Wunti, also verified the cleric’s passing on Thursday morning.
Sheikh Dahiru, regarded as one of Africa’s most influential Islamic scholars, devoted his life to Qur’anic scholarship, Islamic propagation, spiritual training, and the mentorship of thousands of students across Nigeria and beyond.
For decades, he played a central role in advancing Islamic education, leading large followership, and shaping religious thought within the Tijjaniyya community and the wider Muslim world.
