Alhaji Sani Sabo Shot Dead

Prominent Northern Businessman, Alhaji Sani Sabo has been shot dead by Bandits.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that tragedy struck on Sunday night as gunmen suspected to be bandits shot dead a prominent businessman, Alhaji Sani Sabo, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The attack occurred around 9:20 p.m., when the armed men stormed the area and opened fire on the businessman. Residents, angered by the killing, mobilised to confront the attackers, killing one of the gunmen while others escaped.

Alhaji Sani, widely described as a philanthropist and community benefactor, was known for his consistent support to the less privileged.

A community source said:

“Yesterday in Lafia, at about 9:20 p.m., gunmen arrived and shot the biggest businessman in Lafia. He was like a brother to me. The people in the area, angered by the killing, fought back and killed one of the gunmen. This man’s death has touched many people in Nasarawa State. He helped a lot, especially the poor. As we speak, his house is filled with mourners. He will be buried this afternoon at 2:00 p.m.”

As of press time, neither the Nasarawa State Government nor security agencies had issued an official statement on the killing.
