President Shahabuddin has yielded to protesters’ demands and dissolved the country’s parliament.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Bangladesh’s President, Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu, has dissolved the country’s parliament on Tuesday.

By taking this critical action, Shahabuddin fulfilled a significant demand of student protesters whose demonstrations led to the ousting of longtime ruler Sheikh Hasina.

“The president has dissolved parliament,” confirmed Shiplu Zaman, press secretary to President Mohammed Shahabuddin, in a statement.

Yesterday, Hasina who was Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, bowed to pressure by resigning from her post as furious protesters stormed her palace.

Moments after quitting the top position, she fled the country seeking safety elsewhere as the protesting youths continued mounting pressure and demanding reforms to make their country better.
