NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday held a high-level closed-door meeting with key members of his economic and fiscal team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In attendance were the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); and Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji.
While the agenda of the meeting was not officially disclosed, a source within the presidency revealed that it was part of routine briefings where ministers and top government officials provide updates to the President on developments within their respective portfolios.
The officials arrived separately and were ushered into the meeting, which is expected to focus on economic coordination, revenue generation, and policy implementation.
Insiders say the FIRS Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, is expected to brief President Tinubu on the roadmap for the implementation of the four newly signed tax reform bills, which are scheduled to come into effect in January 2026.
The CBN Governor is also expected to provide an update on current fiscal and monetary policy strategies, especially in light of inflationary trends and exchange rate stability.
Additionally, Ministers Wale Edun and Atiku Bagudu are likely to present reports on Nigeria’s broader economic outlook and budgetary performance.
The closed-door session comes at a critical time as the Tinubu administration intensifies efforts to stabilise the economy and improve public revenue amid ongoing reforms.
