Northern Emir Is Dead

Popular Northern Emir is dead and his cause of death has been revealed.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness. He died on Friday in Abuja.

Dr. Bello, the 16th Emir of Gusau, ascended the throne on March 16, 2015, following the death of his father. Prior to his emergence as emir, he had a distinguished career in public service, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the old Sokoto and later Zamfara State, where he served for over a decade.

Confirming the Emir’s death, Sulaiman Idris, spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, issued a condolence message on behalf of the government and people of the state.
