Popular Nigerian Monarch is dead.

 

NewsOnline reports that the Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye is dead.

The monarch, NewsOnline Nigeria learned, died Tuesday morning.

 

A palace source who confirmed the incident said there will be an official announcement soon.

The Chairman, Ibarapa North local government, Lateef Akorede confirmed the death in a social media post.

 

He said: “I received the tragic news of the demise of our king, Oba Abdul- Azeez Adeoye Adewuyi, Aribiyan II, Gbadewolu 1, the Asigangan of Igangan land who died early hours of today (Tuesday).

 

“This is a great loss for Ibarapa land and indeed the Yoruba race.

 

“We’ll miss your wisdom sir, your leadership, your love for this land, your endless support for anything Ibarapa.

 

“Indeed, you were a great king that has the love of his people at heart.”

Another palace source said: “Yes, it’s true. Kabieyesi is dead. He died this morning. We are yet to burry him. We just left the hospital not long ago.”

Igangan in Oke Ogun axis of Oyo State gained media tractions over incessant attacks by suspected herdsmen.

The situation left many dead and properties destroyed.

Suspected herdsmen attacked the palace of the monarch in one of the series of the attacks on the community.

The development brings to two, prominent traditional rulers who died in the less than two weeks in Oyo State.

On December 12, the Soun of Ogbomoso Oba Jimoh Oyewumi (Ajagungbade 1) passed on.

Oba Oyewumi, a successful trader, reigned for several decades.
