NewsOnline reports that Zamfara lawmakers have impeached Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
Recall that Gusau had parted ways with Governor Bello Matatwalle after he refused to join the defecting governor and other elected officials in Zamfara to the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year.
The Assembly, in a statement by Shamsudeen Basko, House Standing Committee Chairman, said the Deputy Governor was accused of abusing office, criminal self-enrichment using public fund and failure to discharge official duties.
Gusau was impeached during the plenary after the Assembly received the report of the committee.
The seven-man investigative panel was set up by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, to investigate the allegations against him.
