Wike And Amaechi

Political tension has risen in Rivers State between Wike and Amaechi.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that political tension has risen in Rivers State following Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike’s challenge on former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi to lead the national revolt he recently called for starting from the State and alongside his own children.

This Nigeria news platform understands that Wike issued the challenge on Friday during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace on Radio Nigeria’s New Market Road in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT. His comments were in direct response to Amaechi’s appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where the former Rivers State governor urged Nigerians to rise against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Taking aim at Amaechi’s credibility and past political defeats, Wike said, “In 2015, I defeated a very powerful sitting governor who tried to install a successor. In 2019, a so-called ‘super minister’ who borrowed recklessly and led the presidential campaign in Rivers couldn’t even deliver 20% of the votes. I defeated him too.”

He continued: “Now, someone is calling for a revolt. The man making that call should lead by example. Come to Rivers State and start the revolution with your children.”

Wike didn’t stop there, adding, “Let your children not be in London while you remain here, inciting Nigerians. Come with them, let’s see your commitment. Then we’ll know you truly mean what you’re saying.”
