Peter Obi Under has come under fire over his recent visit to Former Military President, General IBB.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, Omoyele Sowore, has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, over his visit to former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, in Minna, Niger State.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, announced the visit via his X handle on Thursday.

He described the meeting as an opportunity to exchange thoughts on national issues with the elder statesman and wished Babangida a Happy New Year. Obi also noted that Babangida’s insights and guidance remain invaluable.

However, the visit has sparked backlash from Sowore, who accused Obi of hypocrisy.

In a post on his X handle, @YeleSowore, on Friday, Sowore referred to Babangida as a “Nigerian-ruiner” whose regime contributed significantly to the country’s challenges.

“How on earth could someone be returning from paying homage to ex-Nigerian-ruiner, Ibrahim Babangida, and then give his life to save Nigeria? Jokers!” Sowore wrote.

Obi’s visit to Babangida followed a condolence trip to Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi over the recent deaths of his mother and son.

Sowore’s reaction to Obi’s itinerary has become routine as the activist/politician always takes a jab at the former Anambra chief executive.
