PDP has charged suspended Senator Natasha to resume amid fresh controversy.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, to prepare for her return to the Senate, insisting that her suspension has expired.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the opposition party strongly condemned the move by the Clerk of the National Assembly to block the lawmaker’s resumption, despite the completion of her six-month suspension.

The PDP accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led leadership of orchestrating what it described as a deliberate attempt to silence the people of Kogi Central by denying them representation in the upper chamber.

“This is a calculated effort to abridge the rights of the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District and suppress their voice at the highest law-making body in Nigeria,” the statement read.

The party further appealed to the international community, democracy institutions, rights advocacy groups, and development partners to speak out against what it termed a renewed attack on democratic principles.

It demanded that the Senate leadership immediately allow Akpoti-Uduaghan to resume her legislative duties without hindrance, stressing that she was duly elected by the people and must not be unlawfully deprived of her mandate.
