NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Benjamin Obaseki, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, has resigned from the party.
Obaseki submitted his resignation letter, dated June 12, 2024, to the local government chairman of the PDP.
Prior to his resignation, Obaseki served as an ex-official member of the Oredo Local Government chapter and was part of Ward 10.
In his resignation letter, Obaseki stated: “I am writing to formally inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party. It has been an incredible pleasure to be part of the once-great political family we built together, achieving numerous victories.
“I sincerely regret this decision to leave the party I helped build from scratch, but I am convinced it is time for me to move on for my personal growth. The party’s leadership has lost touch with its members and has become insensitive to my concerns.
“I believe the Peoples Democratic Party has great potential, but with leaders like the current governor, there is no hope for the future. It is unfortunate that the infighting at the state level will ultimately destroy the party, and I do not wish to be caught up in that.”
