BREAKING: Notorious Bandit Leader Bello Turji Offers To Surrender Amid Weakened Influence

Turji’s unexpected offer has stirred strong reactions nationwide, with many questioning whether the government should trust or negotiate with a man long known for orchestrating deadly ambushes and raids.

Notorious Bandit Leader Bello Turji has offered to surrender and called for peace amid weakened influence.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has publicly declared his willingness to surrender alongside his fighters, calling for peace and an end to violence in Zamfara State and surrounding regions.

In a viral video circulating online, Turji said he is ready to lay down arms, not because his group is overpowered, but to restore peace between herders and farmers.

“Enough of the killings. We are not surrendering because we are weak, we want peace to reign,” Turji said, blaming government agents for killings carried out under the guise of bandit attacks.

He urged the Federal and Zamfara State governments to compensate victims and initiate reconciliation efforts.

Security Analyst Disputes Turji’s Motive

Despite the dramatic peace offer, counter-insurgency expert and Lake Chad analyst Zagazola Makama has dismissed Turji’s gesture as tactical, not sincere.

In a statement posted to (formerly Twitter), Makama said Turji’s move follows the loss of his top commander, Danbokolo, who was recently killed in a joint operation by security forces.

“This is not repentance; it’s a survival strategy. Turji’s operational strength has collapsed,” Makama stated.

According to intelligence sources, Danbokolo was the true military strategist behind Turji’s group. His death has reportedly crippled Turji’s operations, leaving the group in disarray.

Government Yet to Respond

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has not yet issued an official response to Turji’s statement, though sources suggest internal discussions are ongoing about possible terms of disarmament and reintegration.

Turji’s unexpected offer has stirred strong reactions nationwide, with many questioning whether the government should trust or negotiate with a man long known for orchestrating deadly ambushes and raids.
