NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed an appeal challenging his conviction and life sentence.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday by his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, in a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Ejimakor, Kanu personally initiated the appeal process. “The mother of all appeals has been filed, as MAZI NNAMDI KANU personally appeals against his conviction/sentence today, the 4th of February 2025,” he wrote.
Kanu was recently sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court following his conviction on terrorism-related charges.
