Trouble For Peter Obi: New DG, Akin, Is Senatorial Candidate Of Another Party

The Labour Party of Nigeria has announced Professor Akin Oshuntokun as the new Director-General of Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organization.

Newsonline reports that the announcement was made on Tuesday, in Abuja, by the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Julius Abure.

Osuntokun became the South-West leader of the party after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the LP in August 2022.

Akin Oshuntokun was a former aide to former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

The appointment of Akin followed the resignation of the former campaign DG, Doyin Okupe who was convicted of money laundering by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a congratulatory message the former DG, Doyin said, “I received the news of the appointment of my brother bossom friend, strong ally and confidant, Prof. Akin Oshuntokun, as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organization. Oshuntokun has been a committed and foundation member of this great movement from the start. I wish him well.”
