Lagos Assembly has made history with the election of Miranda as the first Female Speaker.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Hon. Mojisola Miranda, member representing Apapa Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly has been elected and sworn-in as the new speaker of the House.

 

The development follows the impeachment of former speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, by 32 members of the House.

Miranda becomes the first female speaker to lead the assembly.

 

 

Mojisola Miranda, until her elevation, was the deputy speaker of the house.

 

Similarly, the deputy chief whip, Hon. Fatai Mojeed, has been elected as the deputy speaker.

 

Obasa was impeached over allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement against him.
