BREAKING: Jonathan Reportedly Eyes ADC Ticket Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election

Sources close to the ADC leadership revealed that Jonathan has intensified political consultations in recent weeks, sparking speculation that he may challenge President Bola Tinubu in the next election.

Jonathan is reportedly eying ADC ticket ahead of 2027 Presidential Election.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly considering joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as preparations heighten for the 2027 general elections.

Sources close to the ADC leadership revealed that Jonathan has intensified political consultations in recent weeks, sparking speculation that he may challenge President Bola Tinubu in the next election.

According to reports, Jonathan met with Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Abuja on September 12, and later held a closed-door meeting with ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and other coalition leaders on September 25.

Although Jonathan has yet to make an official declaration, a senior ADC insider told Punch that discussions with the former president have focused on “the 2027 elections and the future leadership of Nigeria.”

The source stated:

“Jonathan is a patriotic Nigerian and will be a great asset to our party. The ADC has maintained communication with him, and several meetings have been held concerning the 2027 presidential election. We believe ADC offers a credible alternative platform for all Nigerians.”

Another party insider disclosed that Jonathan’s decision may hinge on whether the ADC agrees to grant him the presidential ticket unopposed, especially in a possible alliance involving Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

He added that the talks also addressed the country’s worsening economy and insecurity, claiming that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has “weakened democratic institutions” and that ADC remains “the only viable opposition not under APC influence.”

Political observers say Jonathan’s return to active politics through the ADC could reshape Nigeria’s 2027 political landscape if ongoing negotiations lead to a formal declaration.
