BREAKING: “It’s friendly joke” – Supreme Court rejects fresh evidence against Tinubu

Supreme Court has rejected Atiku’s fresh evidence against Tinubu, describing it as a friendly joke.

 

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Supreme Court has rejected the motion by the People’s Democratic Party and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar that the court accept fresh evidence to prove President Tinubu’s alleged submission of a fake certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

This Nigeria news platform understands that Justice John Okoro, the chairman of the 7-member panel resolving the appeal said that the appellants failed to meet the 180-day timeframe provided by the constitution for the amendment of electoral applications.

 

The judge also ruled that the appellants were tardy and did not do due diligence in obtaining the new evidence on time.
