IGP Egbetokun has suspended all special promotions and postings.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the inspector general of police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has suspended special promotions, saying it was jeopardising the jobs of police officers.
The IGP, who was obviously angry at the rate at which some officers go to lobby for special promotions, noted that henceforth, anyone recommended for special promotion from powers above would be disciplined.

The IGP, while speaking yesterday at the decoration of senior police officers, also said when the need arises for any officer to be promoted specially, the issue would be handled by the police management.
He also banned undue soliciting for posting, warning that anyone found guilty of the act would be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the force.
This came as he decorated 27 senior police officers who were recently promoted.
