NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Google has officially launched Gemini 3, its most advanced artificial intelligence model yet, marking a major leap in the evolution of AI-powered tools and intelligent agents across its ecosystem.
Described as Google’s “most capable model to date,” Gemini 3 is engineered with unprecedented reasoning power and new agentic capabilities that allow it to take action, plan multi-step tasks, and deliver more personalized, interactive experiences for users.
Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, said the launch ushers in a new chapter in AI innovation.
“We’ll continue to push the frontiers of intelligence, agents, and personalization,” Pichai stated, noting the rising global interest in advanced learning tools.
In Nigeria alone, Google Search interest in “AI and studying” has jumped by over 200%, while searches for “how to learn AI” grew by 160% in the past year.
At the core of the rollout is Gemini 3 Pro, the first model in the Gemini 3 family. It showcases:
PhD-level reasoning
New global performance highs on major AI benchmarks
Ability to interpret video, images, handwritten notes, and complex technical problems
More direct, insightful responses aimed at eliminating generic or cliché outputs
Google says the model offers users a more natural and intelligent conversational experience, acting like a true thought partner.
For the first time, a new Gemini model is available in Google Search on day one.
With the new AI Mode, Search transforms from a simple query tool into an interactive learning environment. Gemini 3 can now:
Generate simulations and visual layouts in real-time
Create interactive tools like custom mortgage calculators
Offer dynamic explanations for complex topics
Instead of just reading about a physics concept, users can now interact with it.
Google also introduced a new Gemini Agent, available to Google AI Ultra subscribers, which can autonomously take actions across connected Google apps.
Users can ask the agent to:
Organize emails, draft replies, and prioritize tasks
Book rentals or travel, using flight details from Gmail
Carry out complex, multi-step personal or professional tasks
Google assures users that the assistant takes action only under their control.
To support developers building agent-powered applications, Google unveiled Google Antigravity, a new platform that serves as a “mission control” for AI agents.
The system lets AI autonomously:
Build features
Fix bugs
Plan, execute, and verify complex software tasks
This marks a major shift from AI as a passive assistant to an active engineering partner.
Google says Gemini 3 has undergone its most rigorous safety evaluations yet.
Gemini 3 Pro is available immediately via the Gemini app, and for paid subscribers in AI Mode on Search.
More features and broader rollouts are expected in the coming weeks.
