Former Governor Yahaya Bello will spend his Christmas and New Year in Kuje prison over alleged ₦110 billion fraud.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a High Court in Abuja has ordered the detention of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello at Kuje Correctional Centre over alleged involvement in a ₦110 billion fraud.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, came after she dismissed Bello’s bail application as premature.

Justice Anenih stated that Bello’s application, filed on November 22 before his November 26 arrest and November 27 arraignment, was invalid.
The court further adjourned the trial until January 29, leaving the former governor potentially spending the festive season in custody.
While Bello remains detained, his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, were granted bail under stringent conditions, including ₦300 million bonds and property within the court’s jurisdiction as surety.
