An early morning fire outbreak has been reported at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Yaba, National Office, Lagos.

 

Newsonline reports that there is tension in the early hours of Wednesday as fire gutted the West Africa Examination Council building in Yaba area of Lagos State.

Many people are feared trapped in the building as the fire rages.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

This online media platform gathered that firefighters from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) have arrived the scene of the incident to extinguish the fire as of the time of filing this report.

 

An eyewitness said a staff of the Council believed to have been trapped in between some floors was observed attempting to jump through the window of the 12-floor magnificent building to escape being suffocated.

Our correspondent gathered that the fire was put out around 8 am as the situation has been put under control.

Evacuation operation still ongoing.
