FG has unveiled bold plan to end Farmer-Herder crisis in Nigeria.

In a decisive move aimed at resolving the long-standing farmer-herders crisis, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to establish cattle breeding centres across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones.

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, made the disclosure on Wednesday during the second day of the Citizens-Government Engagement and Midterm Review of the Tinubu administration, hosted by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation in Kaduna.

According to the Minister, the initiative forms part of the Renewed Hope Agenda and is designed to modernize livestock production while reducing clashes between farmers and herders. He also stressed the importance of collaboration among the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, Water Resources, Livestock Development, and the Blue Economy in delivering the agenda’s objectives.

Meanwhile, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has applauded the Federal Government’s approach and urged state governors to follow suit by creating livestock ministries within their jurisdictions.

Speaking during the inauguration of MACBAN’s new Kaduna State executive, the association’s National President, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, commended President Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development as a separate entity from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Ngelzarma said such initiatives will not only enhance economic growth through livestock production but also offer lasting solutions to the perennial conflict between farmers and herders. He also appealed to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to establish a similar ministry in the state.

Governor Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, James Kanyip, urged the Fulani community to remain peaceful and law-abiding. He called on the newly inaugurated MACBAN leadership to rise to the challenge of promoting unity and addressing the complex security and agricultural issues affecting the region.
