BREAKING: EFCC Breaks Silence On Alleged Coercion of NNPC GMD, Bayo Ojulari To Resign

“Olukoyede is a law-abiding head of the nation’s foremost anti-corruption agency. He has never abducted, coerced, tortured, or forced anyone out of office,” the source added.

EFCC has denied the allegations of unlawful arrest and coercion of NNPC GMD, Bayo Ojulari to resign.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has firmly denied reports claiming its chairman, Ola Olukoyede, abducted and coerced the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, into resigning.

The rebuttal follows an online publication on Saturday alleging that Ojulari was detained by EFCC operatives on Friday and forced to sign a resignation letter, with purported involvement from the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi.

However, EFCC sources who spoke to The Cable described the report as “ridiculous and mischievous,” insisting that the claims are entirely false and misleading.

“There is no need for Olukoyede to abduct or force anyone to resign because he is not an appointing authority,” the source stated. “If he needs anyone to account for anything, he does it through formal channels — writing or invitation.”

The official stressed that EFCC Chairman Olukoyede has never engaged in coercion or intimidation in the course of his duties.

“Olukoyede is a law-abiding head of the nation’s foremost anti-corruption agency. He has never abducted, coerced, tortured, or forced anyone out of office,” the source added.

The Commission urged the public to disregard the report, calling it a deliberate attempt to discredit the EFCC and its leadership.
