DSS has arrested CBN Deputy Governor Obiora for financial crimes.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that Kingsley Obiora, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been allegedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to a Business Day report seen by Newsonline Nigeria, his arrest followed allegations of financial mismanagement under Godwin Emefiele, the suspended CBN governor.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that Obiora is the Deputy Governor of the apex bank in charge of the economic policy before his arrest.

His arrest comes on the heels of an ongoing probe of CBN under the stewardship of Godwin Emefiele.

Newsonline Nigeria recalls that Emefiele has been in the custody of the DSS since June 10, 2023, a day after President Bola Tinubu removed him from office.

In July, Tinubu appointed a special investigator, Jim Obazee, to oversee the probe of the activities of the apex bank under Emefiele.

DSS and CBN spokespersons, Dr Peter Afunanya and Dr Isa Abdulmumin, respectively, have yet to respond to Newsonline Nigeria’s inquiry.
