Dangote Refinery has fired all Nigerian workers hours after joining PENGASSAN.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that in a shocking move, the management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has sacked all its Nigerian workers barely 24 hours after 90 percent of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
A memo dated September 25, 2025, and signed by Femi Adekunle, Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, cited “total re-organisation” of the refinery and alleged cases of sabotage in different units as reasons for the mass dismissal.

The directive ordered affected staff to hand over all company property, complete exit clearance, and await computation of their entitlements by the finance department.
Dangote Refinery expressed appreciation for the workers’ services but the development intensifies the ongoing trade dispute between the company and PENGASSAN over unionization rights.
