Dangote Refinery has crashed petrol price massively ahead of yuletide.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Dangote Refinery has significantly reduced its ex-depot petrol price in a move seen as an attempt to outpace the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other fuel marketers.

According to data on Petroleumpriceng reviewed by NewsOnline on Friday afternoon, the refinery slashed its ex-depot price to N699 per litre, down from N828, marking a substantial N129 reduction, or 15.58%.

This latest cut is the refinery’s 20th price adjustment in 2025, arriving just weeks before the festive period when fuel demand typically surges.

The reduction comes on the heels of multiple price adjustments by the NNPCL and independent filling stations, which have lowered pump prices at least twice over the past three weeks. Current petrol prices in Abuja now range between N915 and N937 per litre.

The pricing shift is expected to intensify competition within the downstream sector as operators brace for the high-consumption Yuletide season.
