ASUU Strike has been suspended.
Newsonline reports that the Academic Staff Union of the University (ASUU) has suspended its eight-month-old strike conditionally.
The union made the decision to call off the strike during a leadership meeting that started on Thursday night and went into the early hours of Friday.
The union scheduled the conference after its state chapters last week discussed the Court of Appeal verdict in order to decide its course of action.
Newsonline reports that before hearing ASUU’s appeal of the decision directing lecturers to resume work, the Court of Appeal had ordered them to call off their strike.
Members of the union’s National Executive Committee, which comprises the chairmen of the state chapters and members of the national executive, attended the meeting at the ASUU National Secretariat in Abuja.
ASUU has been on strike since February 14 this year.
A member of the union’s National Executive Committee told Channels TV early Friday that the strike has been called off conditionally.
