During a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday at the banquet hall of Gombe Government House, Yahaya stated, “I cannot pay the N70,000 minimum wage, and I suspect many other states are in the same predicament.”

Regarding federal aid, Yahaya praised the Federal Government’s initiative to donate rice to the states but expressed concern about the delay in receiving these supplies. He mentioned, “We are yet to receive the Federal Government’s 20 trucks of rice to Gombe State.”

Despite these challenges, Yahaya emphasized the state’s ongoing efforts to support its citizens through previous palliative distributions and investments in human capital development, education, health, and agriculture.

Addressing the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest, Yahaya stressed the importance of peaceful and orderly conduct. He acknowledged the crucial role of civil society organizations, labour unions, and traders in maintaining social stability and economic resilience. He called for continued cooperation and dialogue to navigate these challenging times together.

Yusuf Ibrahim, Chairman of the Gombe Network of Civil Society Organisations, presented a list of demands for NGOs, urging the Governor to release the list of stocked palliatives.
