NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced the release of all 38 persons abducted during last week’s attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area.
The victims, who were seized by armed assailants during a church programme, were freed on Sunday after days of coordinated rescue efforts.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the breakthrough followed sustained collaboration between state security formations and federal authorities.
He disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had ordered intensified security operations in the wake of the abductions in both Kwara and Kebbi states, leading to the deployment of additional tactical units to the affected areas.
AbdulRazaq thanked the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force for their roles in securing the victims’ release.
He also praised community leaders and residents for their support and vigilance throughout the ordeal.
Security agencies have not yet provided details on how the rescue was executed or whether any suspects were apprehended.
