Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s comments on Monday that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cannot win and will not win the 2023 election have been responded to.
Newsonline reports that Peter Obi said the attacks on him by the politicians from particularly the South East show that he is out to be president of the whole country and not a regional president.
Recall that Soludo, in a statement on Monday, wrote, “Peter Obi knows that he can’t and won’t win. He knows the game he is playing, and we know too, and he knows that we know….The brutal truth…is that there are two persons/parties seriously contesting for president: the rest is exciting drama!”

Special Adviser to Peter Obi on public affairs, Katch Ononuju said the statement and attacks by Soludo will not and cannot dent the Labour Party presidential candidate image and popularity which the Nigerian youths have given to him.
Ononuju said the attacks by South East politicians, including Solduo who is occupying a seat Peter Obi left in 2014 after eight years of good governance of the Anambra people, show that he is a national project.
Ononuju said, “Peter Obi is indeed a Nigerian project, politicians from the South East including his governor have made statements attacking him in public without denting his reputation nor his popularity. His resilience is due to the trust and support of Nigerians. Peter Obi is a national project, politicians from the Southeast also attack him.”
He added, “youths are supporting Peter Obi because he’s the most competent and trustworthy candidate and the only one amongst the candidates that we can hold accountable. Tinubu and Atiku made several promises to Nigerians when they conspired to install Buhari.”
