Some of us in the south will forbid him because he touched on the ligament that is holding the country

Voice of Nigeria, VON, Director-General, Osita Okechukwu, has slammed the presidential candidate of the opposition PDP, Atiku Abubakar, stating that he will not know what he did to himself until the day of voting.

Newsonline reports that the All Progressive Congress, APC, and founding members stated that for giving their presidential ticket to Atiku, PDP touched the ligament holding the North and South together.

Chief Osita Okechukwu stated that though legally there is no rotation of presidency in the constitution, morally it is a convention that has kept the country together.

The VON DG stated that Atiku used his financial muscle to jettison the rotational presidency even against the PDP constitution.

Chief Osita who stated this in Abuja on Sunday said he thanked the Northern governors who stood their ground to ensure that the ruling APC did not find itself in the mess of PDP.

The VON DG said, “It’s not as if rotation is a new thing. So, for the PDP, because of Atiku’s muscle, they jettisoned the rotation of the Presidency which was an injury to himself. Some of us in the south will forbid him because he touched on the ligament that is holding the country.

“That is why we thank the northern governors because they recognized the import of that ligament. You may not take it seriously, but if you know the sense of belonging it brings to the north and south you can’t just dismiss it.

“This rotation may not have its legal teeth, but rotation is a convention. It has its moral angle. Atiku will not know what he did to himself until the day the votes come. Atiku has lost in the southern stronghold.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been in internal skirmishes since Atiku Abubakar emerged as its presidential candidate.

PDP stakeholders including incumbent governors, ex-governors, senators, and House of Representatives members have withdrawn their public support for Atiku Abubakar.
