Aso Rock Deserted As President Tinubu, VP Shettima Depart For Paris And Dakar

As the President and Vice President embark on their international engagements, Nigerians are left wondering about the implications of this abrupt shift.

President Tinubu and VP Shettima have departed for Paris and Dakar, respectively, for official business.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that in an unexpected turn of events, Aso Rock, the seat of Nigeria’s government, stands eerily deserted as both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have left the country for official visits to Paris and Dakar. The sudden absence of the country’s top leaders has left many questioning the stability and continuity of the Nigerian government during their departure.

This Nigeria news platform gathered that Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima departed Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary celebrations.

Senegal celebrates its Independence Day on April 4 each year, commemorating its freedom from French colonial rule in 1960. The day is marked by national pride, with ceremonies, parades and cultural events.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s attendance at the annual event is in honour of an invitation extended to President Tinubu by the Senegalese President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, following the strong mutual relationship between Nigeria and Senegal.

The Independence Day celebrations will be held at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, with President Faye playing host to Vice President Shettima and other distinguished guests from across Africa and beyond.

The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria tomorrow after the one-day event.

NewsOnline Nigeria recalls that President Tinubu had on Wednesday departed Abuja for France for a two-week working visit.

As the President and Vice President embark on their international engagements, Nigerians are left wondering about the implications of this abrupt shift. Will the government maintain its usual operations, or is the country facing a moment of uncertainty? The silence from Aso Rock is deafening as many await further updates.
