Afenifere Demands Probe Into Natasha’s Allegations Against Senate President Akpabio

Afenifere has demanded for probe into Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations against Senate President Akpabio.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has urged the Senate and the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to investigate claims made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement on Thursday, Afenifere stressed that the truth must be established in the interest of fairness, justice, and Nigeria’s global image, noting that international parliaments and media outlets are closely following the matter.

Senator Natasha had earlier accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, a claim that led to her suspension from the Senate for six months over alleged violation of its rules. With the suspension now expired, she has resumed legislative duties.

Afenifere, however, insists that the issue cannot simply be set aside.

“For us, restoring her does not mean we should put all her claims behind us without subjecting them to judicial interpretation,” the group stated.

The organisation called on the AGF, Senate, and relevant security agencies to thoroughly probe the matter to uncover the truth and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
