AFCON 2023: Simon Speaks On Osimhen’s Goal Drought

Osimhen scored in Nigeria’s opening game against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.

Simon has defended Osimhen over his goal drought at the ongoing AFCON 2023.

NewsOnline Nigiera reports that Moses Simon has defended Victor Osimhen after the forward fired blanks in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory against Angola on Friday.

This Nigeria’s news platform recalls that Osimhen scored in Nigeria’s opening game against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.

The Napoli hitman has however failed to register a goal in the Super Eagles last four games at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Simon however said the forward is not thinking about personal glory but the success of the team.

“The atmosphere is good in the team. Osimhen is thinking about winning, not just scoring,” the winger told a press conference.

“If he gets a chance to score he will take it, but he’s focused on the team’s victory first.”

Nigeria will face the winner of Saturday’s quarter-final between Cape Verde and South Africa for a place in the final.
