Adelabu Declares 2027 Governorship Ambition, Vows No Candidate Will Be Imposed

Adelabu emphasised the political significance of Ogbomoso, expressing satisfaction over the reconciliation of factions within the APC in the zone.

Adelabu has declared 2027 Governorship Ambition and vowed that no candidate will be imposed.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu has declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship seat in 2027, assuring stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the party will not impose any candidate on members.

Adelabu made this known on Friday while addressing party leaders and supporters during separate consultative meetings held in Ogbomoso and Oyo towns.

Speaking at the residence of a prominent APC chieftain, Ayoade Adeseun, in Ogbomoso, Adelabu said he was reaching out to party stakeholders across the state as part of early groundwork for his 2027 ambition.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria said he is determined to earn his place through a fair contest, not through imposition.

“I’m up to the task. I want to show that I can withstand and survive competition and come out victorious,” he said.

While seeking the support of aggrieved members, Adelabu pleaded for unity, urging party loyalists to prioritise reclaiming power in the state in the next general election.

He further stated, “I’m here to tell you that I want to contest for governor of Oyo State in 2027. I’m ready to put to the test all the experience I’ve gathered from the past two elections.”

Adelabu emphasised the political significance of Ogbomoso, expressing satisfaction over the reconciliation of factions within the APC in the zone.

He said, “Ogbomoso is very important in this state’s election. I’m here to seek your support and backing. I’m happy to see that all the factions in Ogbomoso are now one.”

He also used the occasion to drum support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, describing the 2027 polls as a critical opportunity for the South-West.

“This is another turn of the Yorubas to serve their two terms as President of Nigeria. Nigeria has a lot to benefit if Tinubu is re-elected,” he said.

At a similar gathering in Oyo town, the minister promised to run an inclusive government if elected, pledging to involve every stakeholder in governance.

“No one will be left behind if I become governor of this state in 2027,” he said.

He dismissed fears of political manipulation, stating, “I’m here for people to know that no one can impose anybody, I want to work and prove to our party members that I’m up to the task, I want to show them that I can withstand and survive competition and come out victorious.

“Oyo is like a second home to me, my supporters, followers, associates and allies are all here, they have been supporting me in the past, and they are ready to support me again.

“I will give what is due to Oyo. Oyo zone deserves better treatment because it is symbolic, Oyo is historical, symbolic and a blessing to the entire state.”

In his remarks, Senator Ayoade Adeseun urged party members to unite for the task ahead, while Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, son of the late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, said unity within the party is critical for the APC to reclaim power in 2027.
