ACF held its Southwest zonal meeting in Ogun and reaffirmed commitment to peace and unity.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Saturday, August 16, 2025, held its Southwest zonal meeting in Ota, Ogun State, with leaders across Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo States reaffirming their commitment to promoting peace, unity, and the welfare of northerners living in the region.

The high-powered meeting was attended by zonal executives, state chairmen, patrons, and other stakeholders of the Forum. Leading the session was the newly elevated Southwest Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Tanko Abdullahi, supported by his deputy, Ambassador Salisu Sani Danmuttaqa, and the zonal secretary, Comrade Gambo Ibrahim Mohammed.

ACF

In his opening address, Alhaji Abdullahi underscored the constitutional duty of ACF members to champion peace and unity, not only within the region but across Nigeria. He described the Forum as a symbol of the vision and ideals of its eminent founders, who sought the collective well-being of the northern community and the entire nation.

ACF

“Our responsibility as members of the ACF is to continue to safeguard the welfare of our people through legitimate service and sacrifice, in line with the constitution of this great country,” Abdullahi said.

State chairmen also presented reports on the progress and challenges faced by their respective chapters. They include: Comrade Yahaya Abubakar (Lagos), Comrade Fahad Mohammed Bala (Oyo), Comrade Mahadi Badamasi (Ekiti), Comrade Maikudi Garba (Osun), and Alhaji Dahiru Mohammed (Ondo). Collectively, they commended the zonal leadership for its performance and urged continuous dedication to the Forum’s vision of fostering unity and development.

The meeting also featured Alhaji AbdRazak Shotayo (popularly known as Sholebo), a respected philanthropist and humanitarian, who graced the event as special guest. Sholebo, who serves as Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycles (ROMO) in Ogun State and National President of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN), was praised for his consistent support to the northern community in Ogun and beyond.

ACF

The ACF Southwest chapter, inaugurated in Abeokuta three years ago by Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun during his first term, has grown into a vibrant platform for promoting northern interests in the zone.

The next zonal meeting of the Forum is scheduled to hold in Oyo State.
