Abducted Wife Of Zamfara Chairman, Ramatu, Delivers In Captivity

Abducted wife of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, chairman in Zamfara, Ramatu Yunusa has reportedly given birth in bandit’s camp.

 

Newsonline reports that Ramatu Yunusa a nurse with the Federal Medical Center in Gusau gave birth at 3 am on Wednesday.

 

Mr. Yunusa, Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Zamfara State chapter, stated that he was told his wife at about 3 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the bandits’ camp.

 

Yunusa lamented that he was not even allowed to see his wife and the baby, stating he cannot say whether it was a boy or a girl his wife delivered.

 

He said, “as I am talking to you now, I don’t know whether the new born baby is a boy or a girl but all I know is that my wife has given birth to the baby,” he lamented.

Yunusa revealed that the bandits demanded any amount as ransom for him to take his wife and the new baby home.

 

He said the event since Wednesday has put his family and him in serious worry as they have not been able to raise any money.

 

Ramatu Yunusa was kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday, 28 day of June, 2022, at her Damba residence in Gusau, the State capital.

 

Zamafara State Police command spokesperson SP Mohammed Shehu could not be reached at the time of filing this report.

 

Since 2020,  bandits have been attacking Zamafara State, many communities have been destroyed, schools and markets have closed; insecurity in Zamfara is at its highest level.

 

All efforts of the state and federal governments to arrest the situation have not yielded the desired results, most residents of the state are living in internally displaced person camps.

 

Speaking on one of the measures put in place by Bello Matawalle administration, death penalty, Senator Shehu Sani, said, “Zamfara’s death sentence for terrorists, Bandits and their informants is a necessity compelled by the situation the state found itself. Zamfara has become a breeding ground and safe haven for terrorists. Zamfara is today worse than Borno State.”
