NUJ Commends Governor Okpebholo For Restoring Edo Broadcasting Service

NUJ has commended Governor Okpebholo for restoring the Edo Broadcasting Service.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has lauded Governor Monday Okpebholo for the successful restoration of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) terrestrial on UHF Channel 45 and the reopening of the Ihievbe broadcast station.

 

This marks a significant return to the airwaves after a decade-long absence, reestablishing a crucial communication link for the people of Edo North and beyond.

In a statement issued on February 16, 2025, the NUJ Chairman, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, described the milestone as a testament to Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to revitalizing the media sector in Edo State. He acknowledged the governor’s leadership and vision, which have played a key role in ensuring the rebirth of EBS.

 

Dr. Alenkhe also commended the Managing Director of EBS, Sulaiman Aledeh, for his unwavering commitment to the station’s transformation. He highlighted Aledeh’s efforts in driving the success of the restoration process, noting that his expertise has been instrumental in achieving this feat.

 

Furthermore, the NUJ applauded Governor Okpebholo’s decision to absorb new EBS staff, emphasizing that this move reflects his commitment to media development and journalist empowerment in the state.

 

The union expressed optimism for continued collaboration between the government and media professionals to foster a thriving journalism industry in Edo State.
