Kwara, Ogun, Osun and Imo have declared a Public Holiday for Teacher’s Day.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has declared Monday, October 7, 2024, a public holiday for teachers in the state.

 

The decision was disclosed in a statement released through the state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Moddibo Kawu, in honour of World Teachers’ Day (WTD).

This Nigeria news platform understands that some states in the country have also declared Monday as a public holiday to celebrate teachers in their states.

Other states that have declared Monday as a public holiday for teachers are:

 

– The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday declared Monday, October 7, 2024, as a work-free day for teachers in the state.

The decision was reached by the state government is in commemoration of this year’s Teachers’ Day in the state.

Hence, schools within the state are expected to resume academic activities on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

– The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, also declared Monday a work-free day for teachers in public and private schools in the state to commemorate the 2024 World Teachers’ Day.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Kolapo Alimi, on Sunday, the gesture was to recognise the invaluable contributions of teachers to the growth of the education sector.

– In commemoration of the 2024 World Teachers’ Day (WTD), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has congratulated teachers for their untiring efforts in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Imo State Governor also declared a public holiday to celebrate teachers in the state.
