Former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido has slammed Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, accusing him of becoming an emperor who dictates what happens in the state.
Newsonline reports that Sule Lamido’s anger was based on the crisis ravaging the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between Atiku Abubakar and the party’s national chairman, Ayu Iyorchia.
Lamido, a PDP chieftain stated that the position Wike put himself as emperor in Rivers State to dictate what happens in the PDP chapter of the state will not work.
Wike had at different times threatened state party members working for the presidential candidate of the party Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking on Channels Television Politics Today programme, Lamido said Wike could only control enslaved PDP members in the state.
“Wike is an individual, I don’t think because he is a governor there he has control and monopoly over the peoples of Rivers,” he said.
He maintained that the PDP stakeholders Wike is dictating for were in place in Rivers State before he joined the party and became chairman of local government.

The former governor of Jigawa said, “He hasn’t got it. Rivers people are also PDP in their own right. They were there in 1999 when he joined. They were there when he was council chairman.
“Therefore, because he’s a governor, he now thinks he is their emperor, it can’t work. There is a Wike in every part of Nigeria who is a governor.
“Leave Wike alone. He has the right to do whatever he wants. He can give orders to people in Rivers who are enslaved to him. But right now, if you go to Rivers, they are contesting for the governorship seat there, it was Wike who imposed the current candidate and nobody questioned that.”
Governor Wike has been the object of discussion in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the party had its presidential primary election in May.
To appease the aggrieved Wike, pressure has been on Ayu Iyorchia, the party’s national chairman to resign from his position, a call first made by Wike to support the presidential candidate of the party Atiku Abubakar come 2023 general election.
