Peter Obi Media Office has listed 10 failures of Tinubu Administration ahead of 2027 election.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the media office of the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has launched a fresh criticism of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, listing what it described as major failures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the media office’s spokesman, Idris Zekeri Jnr, the team highlighted concerns ranging from the rising cost of living and naira depreciation to insecurity, economic policies and declining public trust.
The media office placed the rising cost of living at the centre of its criticism, arguing that the removal of the petrol subsidy and other economic reforms had increased the financial pressure on Nigerian households.
According to the statement, the reforms contributed to higher transportation costs and increases in the prices of food and other essential commodities, making it increasingly difficult for many Nigerians to meet their daily needs.

The team also criticised the depreciation of the naira, arguing that the weaker currency had increased the cost of imported goods, medicines, machinery and industrial inputs.
It said businesses that rely heavily on imported materials had consequently faced higher operating costs, with some of these expenses ultimately transferred to consumers through increased prices.
The media office further argued that inflation and declining purchasing power had continued to affect households, with many Nigerians struggling to maintain their previous standard of living despite government claims of progress on some economic indicators.
On security, the team raised concerns over persistent insecurity, including kidnapping, banditry and other forms of violent crime, arguing that the situation continues to affect the lives and livelihoods of citizens.
The statement also questioned the level of transparency and public trust in government, calling for greater accountability in the management of public resources and the implementation of government policies.
The media office listed what it described as the major failures of the Tinubu administration as follows:
- Rising cost of living

- Inflation and falling purchasing power

- Transparency and public trust

- Government promises versus the experiences of ordinary Nigerians
The criticism comes as political parties and opposition groups intensify their activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi, who previously contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party, is now the presidential candidate of the NDC for the 2027 election. His media office has increasingly focused its messaging on economic hardship, accountability, insecurity and the performance of the Tinubu administration.
The latest statement is expected to add to the growing political debate over the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and the competing claims of the government and opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
